Rick Devens no longer needs anyone else to create Rome’s replacement-nomination seat.
The Week 2 Head of Household won the Power of Veto, placing the entire plan in his own hands. Devens can remove one of his original nominees, name Rome as the replacement and enter Thursday with all seven eligible members of The Toolshed available to complete the backdoor if Rome loses the BB Blockbuster.
The Veto result did not end the week.
It clarified every remaining path.
Melody began working to convince Devens that saving her was his idea. Lyric separated her immediate survival from Rome long enough to offer Devens safety. Angela, Kamu and Chuk pushed the cleaner strategic choice of removing Melody. Dee promised Lyric that she would protect her regardless of the final block.
Rome encouraged Lyric to campaign but refused to approach Devens again himself. Jason offered Angela three weeks of safety, proposed staging a fake fight and ended the night questioning whether Rome had used him. Mallory moved closer to Melody and Lyric while becoming increasingly bothered by Barrett’s time with Dee.
Devens has the Veto.
Rome is one ceremony away from the block.
The larger story is what will remain of Rome’s side if he leaves.

The Veto ceremony is expected to create a final nomination group of Jason, Lyric and Rome if Devens follows the cleanest version of the plan.
Devens Wins the Power of Veto
The feeds returned shortly after the competition and the result became clear.
Devens had won.
That outcome removed the final person between the Head of Household and his intended replacement nominee.
Before the competition, Devens needed Jason, Lyric, Melody, Angela or Barrett to use the Veto. Every nominee had an obvious reason to save themselves. Angela was loyal to the majority. Barrett had already considered throwing the competition to Melody.
Devens no longer needs their cooperation.
He controls which nominee comes down.
He controls who takes that nominee’s place.
He controls whether Melody or Lyric receives the protection that could reshape their relationship with him.
Rome still has the BB Blockbuster.
Everything before that competition now belongs to Devens.
Jason Comes Within Reach of Saving Himself
Post-competition conversations indicated that Jason came close to winning.
The houseguests believed he may have slowed down or checked Devens’ position before Devens completed the final action and secured the Veto.
The exact mechanics will become clearer when the competition airs.
The consequence is already clear.
Jason had an opportunity to guarantee his safety and missed it.
Winning would have removed him from every possible final-block combination. It would have forced Devens to nominate Rome beside Melody and Lyric. It would have given Jason a public competition victory after his confrontation with Angela and the collapse of his credibility inside the majority.
Instead, Jason remains nominated.
He remains dependent on Devens.
He remains uncertain about Rome.
He remains exposed beside whichever two people survive the Veto ceremony and BB Blockbuster.
The Veto Decision Becomes Melody Versus Lyric
Devens is not seriously considering removing Jason.
The decision is between Melody and Lyric.
Melody wants Devens to save her.
Lyric offered Devens safety if he used the Veto on her.
Devens told Lyric that he believed her more than his other two nominees.
That response gave Lyric legitimate hope.
It did not make saving her the better move.
Saving Melody Is the Cleaner Move
If Devens saves Melody, the nominees become Jason, Lyric and Rome.
Rome loses the BB Blockbuster, Rome leaves.
Rome wins the BB Blockbuster, Jason and Lyric remain.
That result still destroys part of Rome’s structure.
Jason has been one of his most visible allies.
Lyric is his showmance.
Either eviction weakens him.
If Devens saves Lyric, the nominees become Jason, Melody and Rome.
Rome wins the BB Blockbuster, Jason and Melody remain.
That vote is less predictable because Melody has relationships with Mallory, Lyric and Barrett while also carrying more strategic agency than Lyric. Melody was already considered a backup target and remains disliked by Haley.
Saving Lyric could result in the majority losing Melody after Rome saves himself.
Saving Melody guarantees that Rome’s closest emotional structure remains represented on the block.
Angela understood the difference.
Kamu and Chuk understood it.
The correct move is Melody.
Melody Tries to Make Devens Believe It Was His Idea
Melody told Mallory that she wanted to pull an “inception” on Devens.
She did not want to demand the Veto.
She wanted Devens to reach the conclusion that removing her was his own strategic idea.
The argument already exists.
Rome excluded Melody while trying to secure safety for himself, Lyric and Jason.
Melody no longer trusts Rome.
She wants Jason gone.
She can be separated from the broken opposition without immediately becoming part of The Toolshed.
Devens may believe saving Melody resets their relationship.
Melody can accept the protection without forgetting who nominated her.
Before the competition, she privately discussed targeting him.
The Veto can change her position.
It does not automatically change her intentions.
Lyric Fights for Herself
Lyric eventually approached Devens directly.
She promised him safety if he removed her from the block.
Devens told her that he believed her more than Jason or Melody.
That conversation represented a meaningful shift in Lyric’s game.
Her position had been defined by Rome.
Her safety had been treated as part of Rome’s safety.
Her relationships had been filtered through the showmance.
After Devens won the Veto, Lyric made it clear that she wanted to remain in the house even if Rome took her place on the block.
She did not stop loving Rome.
She stopped treating his immediate survival as more important than her own.
Dee Promises to Keep Lyric
Dee told Lyric that she would protect her regardless of who sat beside her.
That promise gave Lyric a connection to the majority she had not previously possessed.
Rome could offer emotional loyalty.
He could not offer votes.
Dee could.
Lyric remains useful to the majority because she is not considered one of the opposition’s primary strategists. Without Rome, she could become an available number who feels betrayed by one side and protected by the other.
That is the opportunity in front of Lyric.
She does not need to join The Toolshed.
She needs to prove she can exist without Rome.
Rome Sends Lyric to Devens
Rome encouraged Lyric to ask Devens for the Veto.
He refused to speak with Devens again himself.
Rome also said he would be upset if Devens saved Melody instead of Lyric.
The frustration makes emotional sense.
Lyric remains loyal to him.
Melody has moved away from him.
Strategically, it proves why Devens should remove Melody.
Rome wants the Veto used on the person closest to him.
Devens should use it on the person Rome abandoned.
Rome knows he is the replacement target.
He knows Devens controls the decision.
He has still decided that Lyric must perform the campaign while he refuses to return to the HOH room.
Rome is asking Lyric to protect both of them from a position in which he can no longer protect her.
Rome Continues Trusting Drew
Rome encouraged Drew to pursue a closer relationship with Melody.
He argued that the visible showmance between himself and Lyric could provide cover for Drew and Melody.
Rome also revealed that his real name is Jack.
The personal disclosure showed that Rome continues trusting Drew despite the information moving out of his side.
Drew had already told Dee and Devens about Four Seasons.
He had already reported Rome’s potential targets.
He had already explained how Melody and Yash were moving away from Rome.
Rome responded by giving Drew more information and encouraging him to build another relationship inside the collapsing group.
Drew remains protected because people continue trusting him after he has reported their conversations.
That protection will last until they compare what they told him.
Melody, Mallory and Lyric Attempt to Rebuild
Melody, Mallory and Lyric spent time together and began repairing their trio.
The three women had been separated by Rome’s priorities, distrust surrounding Drew and Barrett and the pressure created by Devens’ nominations.
Melody felt abandoned.
Lyric remained attached to Rome.
Mallory no longer trusted the people playing the middle.
The Veto result gave them a reason to reconnect.
Rome may leave.
Jason is isolated.
Drew and Barrett are increasingly tied to the power structure.
The women may need one another after the men surrounding their original group either leave or fully expose where they stand.
The trio is not stable.
It is one of the only possible foundations remaining outside The Toolshed.
Melody and Mallory Want Jason Gone
Melody and Mallory discussed Jason as if he were already separated from them.
They wanted him out.
Mallory later told Barrett that she preferred Jason leaving over Rome because Rome was more predictable.
That preference directly conflicts with Devens’ backdoor plan.
It also reveals why Rome’s side cannot organize a defense.
Rome wants Lyric protected.
Lyric wants to stay even if Rome goes up.
Melody wants Jason evicted.
Mallory sees Rome as a predictable shield.
Jason questions whether Rome used him.
The Toolshed wants Rome.
The opposition wants different things from one another.
Jason Offers Angela Three Weeks of Safety
Jason approached Angela with a deal.
He offered her three weeks of safety if she voted to keep him.
He also suggested staging another argument between them, this time as a fake fight designed to hide their agreement.
Angela rejected the fake confrontation.
Jason recognized that their public hostility could theoretically create cover.
He failed to account for the trust required to make that plan believable.
He had attacked Angela publicly.
He had damaged his relationship with her.
He had accused the game around their confrontation of being manipulated.
He now wanted Angela to accept a promise he may not remain in the house long enough to honor.
The idea was creative.
The offer was not reliable.
Jason Questions Whether Rome Used Him
Jason later confronted a quieter problem.
He was no longer sure Rome had been honest with him.
Jason worried that Rome had treated him as protection rather than as a genuine partner.
Rome denied it.
Jason later spoke privately to the cameras and admitted that the doubt remained.
That uncertainty may be more damaging to Rome than the public backdoor.
Jason fought with Angela because he believed he was defending himself against the majority.
He entered the Veto needing safety from Devens.
He ended the night questioning the person who was supposed to be standing beside him.
Rome’s group is not being destroyed only by The Toolshed.
It is being destroyed by the realization that Rome placed Lyric above everyone else.
Taylor Makes the Argument for Keeping Rome
Taylor suggested that Rome could remain useful as a shield.
She questioned whether Week 2 was too early to remove him.
The argument has strategic merit.
Rome is visible.
Rome is emotional.
Rome has been identified as a leader.
Rome will continue attracting attention if he remains.
Removing him allows the veterans and their closest allies to consolidate control while the middle loses one of the largest targets in front of them.
Taylor identified the long-term danger.
She did not create the numbers required to stop it.
The Toolshed had already invested the entire week in Rome’s eviction.
A shield argument is not enough without a counterstructure.
Dee Checks Kamu’s Vote
Dee spoke directly with Kamu about removing Rome.
She acknowledged the possibility that he might be uncomfortable losing another man this early.
Kamu said he was willing to do it.
The conversation closed one of the few potential cracks in the majority vote.
Dee did not assume Kamu would follow.
She asked.
She received confirmation.
That is how The Toolshed continues functioning despite its size.
Its members repeatedly check the votes required to complete the plan.
Chuk and Yash Prefer Lyric
Chuk and Yash discussed what they would do if the original nominations remained unchanged.
They preferred keeping Lyric over Jason or Melody.
Yash believed Lyric was unlikely to target them.
That logic gives Lyric a strong survival path if Rome wins the BB Blockbuster.
She is viewed as less strategic.
She is viewed as less personally dangerous.
She is viewed as someone whose game may collapse without Rome.
Jason has created conflict.
Melody has shown more independence.
Lyric’s greatest weakness may become the reason she survives.
Mallory Becomes Increasingly Focused on Barrett and Dee
Mallory became upset about Barrett spending time with Dee.
The reaction appeared personal, but the personal concern is connected to real game information.
Barrett is close to Dee.
Barrett is inside The Toolshed.
Barrett has attempted to maintain relationships with people outside the alliance.
Mallory eventually received private time with him and explained that she wanted Jason out instead of Rome.
Barrett promised her safety if he won HOH.
He continues giving people individual reassurance without revealing the structure protecting him.
He has promised help to Melody.
He has promised safety to Mallory.
He remains loyal to the majority.
The promises are useful until two people expect him to honor them at the same time.
Angela Remains in the Center of Everything
Angela continued wearing the Hard-Boiled Detective punishment.
She curled into the shell of the costume like a turtle.
She lay on the lounge floor.
She later ate a snack from inside it in the backyard.
The costume has turned her into a walking joke.
It has not removed her from the center of the game.
Yash spoke with her.
Taylor presented the shield argument to her.
Jason offered her a deal.
Devens received her advice about the Veto.
Angela remains protected, informed and emotionally unpredictable.
The punishment changed her appearance.
It did not reduce her influence.
Devens Checks the Votes
Devens told his allies that the only way the plan fails is if they refuse to vote Rome out.
That is the correct concern.
The Toolshed contains eight members.
Devens cannot cast a normal eviction vote as HOH.
The remaining seven members can provide the seven votes required to evict Rome.
The alliance does not need Taylor.
It does not need Yash.
It does not need Mallory.
It does not need LaTrice.
It needs Dee, Angela, Barrett, Drew, Kamu, Chuk and Haley to remain unified.
The structure gives Devens confidence.
It also makes every internal hesitation more important than any campaign Rome can make to the outsiders.
Rome and Lyric End the Night Together
Rome and Lyric continued their romantic banter late into the night.
They told each other they loved one another.
The relationship remains emotionally intact.
Its game has collapsed around them.
Lyric wants to stay even if Rome becomes the replacement nominee.
Rome wants Lyric saved but cannot provide the Veto.
Dee has offered Lyric protection.
Kamu has coached her campaign.
Devens has listened to her.
The majority has not broken the showmance emotionally.
It has separated their love from their ability to protect one another.
The Real State of the House After the Veto
Devens has complete control over the Veto ceremony.
Rome is expected to become the replacement nominee.
Melody remains the correct person to remove.
Lyric is fighting for herself without completely separating from Rome.
Jason came close to safety and now questions whether Rome ever treated him as a real ally.
Mallory, Melody and Lyric are attempting to rebuild while disagreeing over who should leave.

It ended with Devens wearing it around his neck, Lyric campaigning for herself and Jason wondering whether the alliance he fought to protect ever existed.
