Taylor Brown already did the most important thing she needed to do entering Day 81.
She won.
Now Drew Campbell has to deal with everything that win changed.
Taylor’s victory in Part 1 of the Big Brother 28 Final Head of Household competition sent her directly into Part 3 and completely wrecked the competition sequence Drew hoped to create when he chose to keep Rick Devens.
The plan was simple.
Drew wanted Taylor to fall first in Part 1.
Devens would then honor their agreement and drop, sending Drew directly into Part 3.
Taylor and Devens would fight through Part 2.
Drew believed Devens could beat Taylor there.
Instead, Drew fell first.
Taylor won.
Now Drew has to beat the man he chose to save if he wants to join Taylor in Part 3 and retain a path to controlling his own Final Two fate.
And after Part 1 ended, Taylor spent the early hours of Day 81 making sure Drew understood exactly what she believes should happen if he gets that control.
TAYLOR DID NOT JUST WIN PART 1 — SHE BROKE DREW’S PLAN
Drew’s decision to move forward with Devens was not made without a plan.
Before the Final Four eviction, Drew and Devens discussed the Final HOH and mapped out a scenario that looked considerably cleaner for Drew.
If Taylor dropped out of Part 1, Devens agreed he would drop afterward and allow Drew to advance.
That would send Taylor and Devens into Part 2.
Drew believed Devens could beat Taylor there.
Then Drew would reach Part 3 with the ability to win the final HOH and make the last eviction himself.
There was just one problem.
Taylor never dropped.
She won.
When the feeds returned after Part 1, Taylor had secured her place in Part 3 while Drew and Devens were left staring directly at each other.
That completely reversed the structure Drew had been trying to create.
He kept Devens partly because Devens could potentially become the person who eliminated Taylor before Part 3.
Now Taylor is safely waiting in Part 3 while Drew has to personally beat Devens to join her.
That is not a small change.
That is Drew’s preferred Final HOH path getting turned completely upside down.
PART 1 WENT ABOUT AS BADLY AS POSSIBLE FOR DREW
The Final HOH opener was an endurance competition involving a spinning log and water.
Taylor later explained that the movement made her dizzy enough that she focused on a nearby rock to stabilize her perception.
Devens discussed adjusting his stride.
The log eventually reversed direction, adding another problem to the competition.
Drew estimated that he lasted roughly 10 minutes.
That meant the scenario he had discussed with Devens never had the chance to matter.
Drew needed Taylor to drop before Devens.
Instead, Drew dropped before Taylor.
Taylor eventually won the entire thing.
That left Taylor with exactly the position Drew wanted.
She can rest.
She can study.
She can work on her speech.
She can prepare for Part 3.
And she can watch Drew and Devens fight for the other spot.
Drew wanted that position.
Taylor took it.
TAYLOR STARTS WORKING DREW
Taylor did not waste the opportunity.
After the competition, Taylor and Drew began discussing what their potential finishing positions could look like.
Then the conversation became much more important.
Taylor started campaigning.
She told Drew that she believes taking her to the Final Two would give him a better chance of winning than sitting beside Devens.
Taylor also believes Devens would take Drew over her if Devens eventually controlled the final eviction.
That distinction matters.
Taylor was not trying to convince Drew that Devens would betray him.
She was arguing something considerably more interesting.
Devens could keep his word.
And Drew could still decide that sitting beside him is the wrong endgame.
That is the weakness Taylor attacked.
GETTING TAKEN IS NOT THE SAME THING AS WINNING
Drew has repeatedly valued the security Devens gives him.
Devens has promised to take Drew.
That mattered when Drew was deciding whom he trusted enough to bring into the Final Three.
Taylor did not attack the credibility of the promise.
She attacked its value.
Being taken to the Final Two only matters if Drew believes he has the right opponent sitting beside him once he gets there.
Taylor reminded Drew that nobody intentionally chooses second place.
That became the heart of her pitch.
She wanted Drew thinking beyond one question:
Who is most likely to take me?
And toward another:
Who do I actually want sitting beside me when the jury votes?
Taylor believes the answer is her.
Whether the jury eventually agrees is completely unknown.
But Taylor does not need to prove that argument to the jury right now.
She needs Drew to believe it.
TAYLOR IS ALREADY BUILDING DREW’S POTENTIAL JURY ARGUMENT
Taylor pushed the argument even further.
If Drew gets the opportunity to evict Devens at Final Three, Taylor believes that move could become a major part of Drew’s argument for winning Big Brother 28.
She told Drew that if he cuts Devens, he would need to emphasize that decision to the jury.
That is where her pitch became especially smart.
Taylor was not merely asking Drew to take her.
She was giving him a reason why taking her could become part of his own winning argument.
There is a coherent story Drew could tell.
He kept Devens when keeping Devens benefited his game.
Then, if he eventually controls the final eviction, he cuts Devens when the protection is no longer useful and Devens becomes direct competition for the $750,000.
Drew could argue that keeping Devens was not an inability to make the move.
It was delaying the move until the moment it benefited Drew most.
Would the jury buy it?
Nobody knows.
But Taylor understands exactly what she wants Drew thinking.
She does not want him viewing Devens as his automatic Final Two partner.
She wants Drew viewing Devens as a move he may still need to make.
TAYLOR’S WARNING ABOUT DEVENS
Taylor added another piece to her argument.
She warned Drew that Devens is a very good speaker and believes he could be dangerous if he gets the opportunity to make his case to the jury.
That is Taylor’s assessment.
It is not proof that Devens has the jury locked.
Nobody inside the house knows exactly how the jury will vote.
But that uncertainty is precisely what Taylor is exploiting.
Her argument to Drew is that reaching the Final Two with Devens could create a risk Drew does not need to take if he earns the power to remove him first.
Taylor wants Drew thinking about the jury before Part 2 is even settled.
She is not merely campaigning for Drew to take her.
She is trying to make Devens look like a problem Drew still needs to solve.
DREW HAS REACHED THE PART WHERE NOBODY CAN SAVE HIM
Drew’s position is now incredibly simple.
He made the Final Three.
He survived repeated danger.
He won competitions when his game was hanging by a thread.
He controlled the Final Four eviction.
But none of that can win Part 2 for him.
There is no alliance vote coming.
There is no Veto.
There is no Blockbuster.
There is no deal that can move Drew directly into Part 3.
He has to beat Rick Devens.
If Drew wins Part 2, he earns exactly what he needs: one final competition against Taylor with the chance to control the final eviction himself.
If Drew loses Part 2, he loses that opportunity.
Taylor and Devens would compete in Part 3.
One of them would become the final Head of Household.
One of them would make the final eviction.
Drew could still be chosen for the Final Two, but the decision would no longer belong to him.
After spending so much of the season surviving other people’s decisions, that would be one hell of a position for his game to end up in.
DEVENS SURVIVED DREW’S DECISION. NOW HE HAS TO EARN PART 3
Devens got what he needed at Final Four.
Drew kept him.
That was enormous.
It also bought Devens another opportunity rather than guaranteeing him anything.
Taylor winning Part 1 immediately removed the route Devens and Drew had discussed.
The promise between Drew and Devens cannot decide Part 2.
Drew needs the win.
So does Devens.
And Taylor spent the early hours of Day 81 reinforcing the argument that allowing Devens to reach the Final Two could be a mistake.
That leaves Devens with one completely self-controlled route.
Win Part 2.
Reach Part 3.
Win again.
Choose the Final Two himself.
If Devens loses Part 2, he is not automatically eliminated.
But he loses the ability to compete for the final HOH and must depend on either Taylor or Drew to choose him if they win Part 3.
For a player this close to the end, that distinction is everything.
TAYLOR FINALLY HAS THE POSITION EVERYBODY ELSE WANTED
Then there is Taylor.
For most of the summer, one of the clearest criticisms of her game was simple.
She could understand what was happening.
She could identify danger.
She could recognize relationships and shifting power.
But eventually she needed to win something herself.
Then the endgame arrived.
Taylor won the Final Four HOH.
Now she has won Part 1 of the Final HOH.
Two massive late-game victories at exactly the point where Taylor could no longer afford to leave everything in somebody else’s hands.
Now Taylor is sitting in the position Drew wanted.
She does not have to play Part 2.
She does not have to beat Devens right now.
She does not have to beat Drew right now.
Drew and Devens have to fight each other.
Taylor gets Part 3.
One competition.
Win it and Taylor becomes the final Head of Household of Big Brother 28.
Then the person who spent so much of the season watching other people make the biggest decisions gets to make the final decision herself.
Funny how quickly an endgame can change.
PART 2 IS THE NEXT PIVOT POINT
There is no reason to manufacture an update that has not happened yet.
As of this Day 81 update, there is no verified Part 2 winner.
Taylor is already through.
Drew Campbell and Rick Devens are the Part 2 matchup.
One of them will advance.
The other will lose the ability to compete for the final Head of Household and will have to depend on the Part 3 winner to choose him for the Final Two.
For Drew, Part 2 is his opportunity to keep control of his own endgame available.
For Devens, Part 2 is his opportunity to put himself one win away from making the final decision.
For Taylor?
She already did her job.
Now she waits.
FINAL HOH STATUS
Taylor Brown won Part 1 and advanced directly to Part 3.
Drew Campbell and Rick Devens will compete in Part 2.
The Part 2 winner advances to face Taylor in Part 3.
The Part 3 winner becomes the final Head of Household and chooses who sits beside them in the Final Two.
The Part 2 loser is not automatically evicted.
He simply cannot compete in Part 3 and must rely on the final HOH winner to take him.
As of this update, there is no verified Part 2 winner.
That is the board.
Anything beyond it would be getting ahead of what the feeds have actually confirmed.
FINAL THOUGHTS
The irony of Drew’s endgame is almost perfect.
He kept Devens partly because he believed Devens could help create the Final HOH sequence he wanted.
Taylor was supposed to become the problem Devens could help him solve.
Instead, Taylor won Part 1 and handed the problem straight back to Drew.
Now Drew has to beat the person he deliberately kept.
That makes Part 2 more than another step in the Final HOH.
It is the test of Drew’s entire Final Four decision.
Meanwhile, Taylor spent the early hours of Day 81 making sure Drew understands that beating Devens should not merely be about reaching Part 3.
If Drew eventually earns the power to make the final eviction, Taylor wants him thinking about finishing the move.
That is what makes this Final Three interesting.
Devens is offering Drew loyalty.
Taylor is offering Drew an argument for why loyalty might not be enough.
Drew still has to decide which matters more.
But first, he has to earn the right to make that decision himself.
There are three people left.
No nominations.
No Veto.
No Blockbuster.
No house vote.
Just the Final HOH.
Taylor already punched her ticket to Part 3.
Now Drew and Devens have to fight over the other one.
